Meet the Pastor...
Pastor Jonathan James was
born
and raised in Marion, Kentucky. He is a graduate of Asbury Theological
Seminary
with a masters degree in divinity. He also has a law degree from the
University
of Kentucky College of Law, ask him about that sometime.
He became a Christ follower
at
a time in his life when he was trying to prove Christianity was wrong.
He hasn't been the same since he came to believe in the Jesus of the
Bible. In his desire to serve God from that time on, he believed God
was
calling him to preach. He sought God's direction for six months before
enrolling at Asbury.
PJ's gifts are
teaching,
preaching and leadership. He believes the only way to have peace is to
be in tune to God's will. Part of his giftedness is to be able to see
with
clarity the truths contained in scripture and relate those to others
in a meaningful way. His vision for ministry is to be a servant-leader,
teaching others to be disciples of Jesus Christ.
He is a Civil War and World
War
II buff. They have two dogs, Jonas and Justice, he has trained them to
do over 40 tricks. He enjoys
driving
his convertible Honda Del Sol.
PJ and Michelle
met
at the church they both attended in Kentucky. They have been married 7
years. Michelle is an elementary school teacher. She believes God has
called
her to be a pastor's wife and will use her role to be supportive of her
husband. She has said she isn't typical of most pastor's wives in that
she doesn't sing or play the piano. She uses her giftedness to serve
the
Lord in other areas of the church.
